“For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love shall not depart from you, and my covenant of peace shall not be removed,” says the LORD, who has compassion on you. Isaiah 54:10
One of the many blessings of living in Cranbrook is that each day we can turn our gaze and see the beauty of the mountains. A stunning sight. But also, there is probably no better picture of stability and endurance than a lofty mountain.
It is for that reason, when the prophet Isaiah considers the love of God towards His own, his writing turns to the mountains for comparison. And he notes that it is more likely that a mountain would be lifted up and removed than it is for God’s “steadfast love”to be removed from the believer. For the believer, there is a greater likelihood of waking up tomorrow and seeing a gaping hole in the Rocky Mountains where Mt. Fisher stood the day before, than of God removing His love.
God’s enduring “steadfast love”, His “covenant of peace” and “compassion” rest eternally upon that one who is trusting in Christ for salvation, the salvation that He has accomplished on the cross. So come to Christ today and know His “steadfast love” forever.
