… we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body…”

Philippians 3:20,21

THOUGH WE MOVED THROUGH EASTER SUNDAY over a week ago, I continue to reflect upon the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the grave, for that event was the most significant moment in all of history. As I like to say, “If there was a Man who said, ‘I am going to die, and three days later, I will walk out of the tomb’ and then He did it, then that changes everything.” We could talk forever (and we will someday) about the significance of Christ’s resurrection, but for now, let’s consider Philippians 3:20,21 above.

For the believer, Christ’s resurrection guarantees our resurrection. Currently, the believer has the sure hope of heaven after we die, but even more so, “we also eagerly wait” for the return of Christ because then we will be transformed to be like Him. (See also I Corinthians 15:50-57.) We will be granted a resurrected, glorified body like Jesus. And it will be in that glorified body that we will enter into eternity in a new heaven and a new earth. Then truly, “Death will be swallowed up in victory.” (I Corinthians 15:54) and we shall rejoice in the presence of God and our Saviour, the Risen Lord, forever.
